Hi
My GFR starts no problem but wont rev clean from around 3500 rpm as it constantly fowls the plug and cuts out. its running standard jetting and float settings as per the manual, ive ultrasonic the carb to death and I,m confident all airways are clear the bike cant be used due to this and was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues or has changed the jetting to help , any advice would be of help as the bike is totally original and complete and I would love to use it again.

I seem to remember an issue with some GFRs with the choke lever/cable not putting the choke (starter jet plunger) off properly, so check that.

Is it any better when stone cold?

Another possibility is the ignition going off and giving a weak spark under high load. Start by checking the resistance of the ignition winding on the stator.

Hi , Thanks for the reply , i'm currently offshore at the moment but will check these issues when I get back and let you know , thanks again any information greatly appreciated .
as for it being any better from cold its hard to say as I never ride it due to the problem , but it starts first time from cold but kills the plug eventually

It's been a while since I had to have mine rewound. I'd expect similar to a Morini so >200 ohms?

Unfortunately the workshop manual doesn't list one and neither does David Champion's GFR Fact Sheet which I finally managed to find and scan. If I get a minute I'll check one of mine.

Hi Again
I think I have my issues sorted , the choke cable was a issue and I fitted new carb floats also.
Haven't took it out on the road yet as I think all the starting and stopping while trying to get to the bottom of the problem has choked the exhaust slightly .
Does anyone know the best way to de coke the exhaust as I think it requires it.
Any help appreciated
