I've never seen a Piuma in the flesh, but from a small photo the cycle parts look very similar to SP/GFR's has anybody had the wild urge to slot a Nordwest engine in a spare GFR frame.
Just in case you are wondering where this is going, I got a spare engine with a view to building a 558 Saturno.
I still have the spare engine needing a rebuild/big-bore plus a pair of Keihin CR carbs?
Just a thought has anybody done it
John

I think Joachim mentioned that a Nordwest/GFR has been built in Germany.

Hahne (a German Gilera dealer) has built a KX125 with a Kawaski 500 triple motor!

I've seen photo's of Gottfreid Hahne's Gilera/kwaka, this is what you do when all else fails
I would like to see photo's and hear more about the GFR/Nordie.
Putting my (small GFR?SP and Piuma photo's side by side they do look very similar and judging by the number of tales of woe with knackered stroker engines there may just be a rolling chassis out there?

You will have to ask Joachim. I will get a private message module installed ASAP. Joomla is great but the forum stuff is all add-on and needs extras.

Meanwhile, you can do almost anything if you are an engineer like the owner of this hill climb special. Link only until I sort out how the embedded link system works.

Volker Heim has built and raced a SP02 frame with 4stroker engine in the german SOS racing series, some years ago.
Like most of the other Gilera SOS racers this one is owned by HP.

Even the stickers on the fuel tank of the SP02 are the same as on the Piuma. Or the other way round ;)

Beside this, they look only similar when you have small pics or have a look from 20m away ;)
The SP is a somehow cheap bike for young enthusiasts. Steel frame, a good looking fork with crap inside and so on.
The Piuma is more the Bimota style.
Somehow you would like to get something for *that* price they are calling for a Piuma.

I will surf my harddiscs for some bigger pics...

ciao joachim <with a spare GFR frame and a spare Nordie engine ;) >
