WD40 is good but Plusgas is better :)

The wheel looks a bit odd without them but I'm sure it's still strong enough.

Thanks everyone, it was a bit of corrosion keeping the spoke covers from simply popping off. Took a little soak of wd40 then some taps with a hammer and scraper. I have to admit, I'm normally working on newer bikes so the corrosion factor did elude me :silly: .I'm just going to work out the disc carrier then post back with finished result. Cheers

The alloy must have oxidised and the furry oxide probably didn't help by sticking to the plastic covers. Dunno why they didn't just paint or powder coat the whole lot.

In my case, these wheels were painted over once the covers were installed. In fact, it was a mixture of corrosion AND paint in the cracks which kept them on so tight (sort of tight), just to be clear. Also, the screws were painted over. FWIW...

I'm still chugging away on this bike guys. I'll be posting pics and updates really soon but I have one quick question:

How do I set up the five clutch basket springs? I've checked the manual but the description is not clear enough and the diagram is too low resolution to make much sense of. I just swapped out to new clutch plates but I forgot to measure how far these five spring retainers are screwed in. Help?

One more thing: I read on here that the front master cylinder bore is 11.5mm, is this true? If so, do you think that using a 16x15/16/17 adjustable ratio Accossato master would be a bad fit? They, along with brembo, advertise the 16mm size as appropriate for single disc front brake set ups.

You know what, upon further consideration of the greatly reduced weight of my bike from stock figures I've decided that straying too far from stock master cylinder bore is not a very good idea. I did find that Magura makes masters in 11, 12, 13 mm options so now I guess id just like to confirm that the stock master is indeed 11.5 so that I can just go with the 12mm magura.
