ok i will take the carb apart again, can the float needle height be adjusted? if i was to try a new main jet do you think i should go up or down in size? i was looking on the bay for replacement part for the carb, i was also thinking of going for a 34 or 38 but would the internals be the same spec as the 32?

With luck you will find that the float is just stuck on its pivot pin or a bit of dirt in the needle seat stopping it closing. You shouldn't need to adjust the float height unless the float mounting has got bent somehow.

A change of end can may need a size bigger in main jet if it is less restrictive than the original.

I wouldn't try a bigger carb until you have it running well on the standard size.

Two stroke carburation experiments can be costly. Get it too weak and you will seize it or hole a piston.

Hi Scott,
As 72degrees said get it running 100% standard without any jet or carb changes, then and only then think about changes, but I would recommend don't change it to none standard even then
Good luck
John

Hi chris,

I've seen your project on the 125cc forum, but weren't aware your carb was giving you grief. I agree with the general consensus that it's better to set it set up properly on standard before making any adjustments. As I'm now the (not so)proud owner of a Crono, which is a dog to be fair, I can compare the carb on it with a spare GFR unit I've got sat around. I'll post pictures if you wish .....

Apart from the silencer's looking a bit different, I can't say for sure whether a GFR unit on a Crono set up, or vice versa, would make any difference. I would assume there may be subtle differences otherwise Gilera wouldn't have gone to the time, effort and cost of redesigning it for the GFR.

Hi Scott,
I have used Eurocarb at Reading for Dellorto parts for my Morini, they ere quick and not expensive
Go on their website lok which model carb you have click on and apart list should appear type in what you need and raise an order prices will be shown. You should only need jets if yours are damaged through rough handling.
Good lick
John
