Nearly there! Final part of the saga was the acquisition of a KTM sprag clutch; now the bike fires up and will soon replace the suddenly recalcitrant Morini Kanguro-which I think I will dispose of.

No sooner inspired to post than a nice, original example pops up on ebay! Not crazy about the colour scheme, though.

Have you got a part number for the KTM sprag clutch?

If it's the same as on other Gilera 4strokers ;)
Maybe another member will give my polish or chinese replica a chance

I can confirm the item recently fitted to my Dakota carried the very same number as quoted above.

Greetings all. Herewith latest update: After a great deal of prevarication, I was obliged to remove the Dakota from Rosso Corse, having been informed that Marcus was unable to spare the time to reassemble it. It subsequently became clear that the bike was missing its fuel filler, which may have influenced the decision. Happily for me, Bob Wright just happened to have a suitable item knocking about, and so perhaps I will be on the road very soon. I hope...
