Hi Kiwi, The RC looks pretty good, much better than my barn find when I 1st got it.
72's riding in the Morocco dunes video is great, we don't have dunes but lots of soft sand "fesh fesh" which can be hard going and gravel tracks, great for my early Sunday ride.

Looks good. As Joachim warned, warm it up gently and don't rev it too hard until the belt has been changed as it may have 'taken a set' while sitting on the pinions in one position for years.

Yes I am very aware of the possibility of a belt breakage so I have removed the battery and the temptation to ride it at the moment. Once the owner has a good look we will order some parts and get her back on the road again permanently. The Nordwest is proving a little more stubborn and refusing to start. I think this one is carburation. It has spark but little else. I will dig deeper as time allows. In the meantime I am off to work to make money for my expensive toys.

Maybe you should check the gap between the pickup and the rotor :P

Yes, I will check that as a reference, I am going to find out why the RC has the anomaly.

The Nordie probably is suffering from stale fuel so I will give the carb a birthday. It has been sitting in an old hen house for several years since the owner bought a KTM SMT. No doubt it will prove to give me some headaches but time will get me to the bottom of it. After all is said and done, 'man made it, man can fix it'.

I'll post my findings in the near future for anyone who is interested, along with some photos and a first ride report.

The Nordwest is special to me because I found it for sale in a magazine years ago and put the owner on to it because I couldn't justify buying it for myself. I recently gave up on justification and just said I want it.

Keep the shinny side up and the wheels going round,
