John - you'd love to take your Norturno out on some of the roads. Fast, sweeping bends and then some throw the anchors out hairpins just to make life enjoyable.

Even a hire bike would be enjoyable, I heard about NZ roads ;)

I just got back from a ride on the Super Duke to Mokau over Mt. Messenger, what a superb day and a fun ride. Lots of bikes on the road. We had lunch at The Whitebait Café before returning home. A ride of about 290km round trip for me. Once home I drained the stale fuel out of the Nordwest and put a battery on charge. I hope to have some good news on that front in a day or two.

I know Mokau well, many a cup of coffe there. It was a regular run if we had no where else specific to go.

Can't tell from the picture where your home town is, but Taranaki is where I'd like to live if I win the lottery.

That is the Hawera Water Tower in the middle of the shot.

Yes the Mokau run is a favourite in these parts, however it is a little straight and boring, a better ride is to Whangamomona as you will remember. Which I have committed to as my first ride on the Nordwest.

And on that front I just unbolted the carb off it. The fuel smells like turps, the slide is seized as is the butterfly so I suspect there is some nasties awaiting me on the inside.

Hawera, of course, couldn't tell too much from the picture as couldn't magnify it. Went to a do at the big pub in Hawera run by the most fascinating woman. Spent hours just talking to her and the bar staff which for a non-drinker is not bad.

As for your Nordie possible troubles, can't help at all. My technical knowledge is put key in ignition and press start button. If nothing happens, cal someone who knows about these things.

Bet Kano will have a few answers to most questions though, so I'll hide for a whilst technical things are discussed.
