Yep, choke out, swing down to compression resistance, let lever up & push down to move piston over Tdc only, lever up followed by long swing down.

For really hard kick starting try a modern 450 or bigger capacity MX single like my tuned YZ450F when hot. Despite a hot start lever and auto-decompressor it was a pig. Gave me an arthritic right knee and varicose veins! The KTM 350SXF was leccy start only.
