Hi, can any one advise on a slight oil leak traced to originate from under the cam belt cover, runs down the inside of the cover to the lower joint.

It appears to be coming from the area of the decompressor pivot behind the exhaust cam. I cannot find any information or breakdown regarding the decompressor in the manual. Is there an oil seal and if so can it be replaced from within the cam belt cover or does it require a top end strip down. It has only just become noticeable and is not contaminating the belt at present.

Any help gratefully received. Stay safe!

have you had a look into the spare parts list?
Sometimes the exploded views can give a big help

Hi Joachim, Yes I have tried looking at the diagrams but cannot find much information concerning the construction of the decompressor, a little stumped at present.

Thanks for the suggestion though! Keep well.

i just can not find my Saturno list :(
Only the one from the Nordie and she has no decompressor.
But a little plug to close the bore.
There is a O-ring listed.
So that might be the same as on the decomp shaft
The bad thing, the shaft is secured by a little pin located in the sealing area of the head cover
So you will have to lift that cover for pulling out pin and the shaft
That means to losse the nuts on the studs fixing the head ?
As far as i see yes :(

Usually i would say if you do it, just do it right.
But...
Maybe some kind of seal swell will help.
If you will not put such stuff into your engine it might be possible to put a little amount of this stuff on the outside of the decomp shaft in the head.
Hoping it will crawl to the inside and reach the o-ring
Maybe it's worth a try before dismountig nearly the complete engine

ciao Joachim

Joachim, Many thanks for researching this for me. I have a few other jobs of a higher priority but will look into the leak during the next few weeks. If not from the decompressor shaft I guess it may be a weeping camshaft oil seal but will check that out.

Thanks again for your constructive response,
John
