that's the easy part ;)
I remove the hose clamps frm the y-piece before moving the carb out.
Take care about the wiring lome.
I also did not remove the cables at tthe carb.
I just remove the 12mm hex nut, remove the metal part under it and also remove the both little screws behind. That avoids to fiddle around with the two throttle cables.

Moving te carb back into the frame causes more troubble.
Especially fitting the y-piece is a ......
So the idea with the rear frame may be worth a try
I remove the air filter and use a long thick srew driver to push the rubber in place.
But maybe i will try the lowered rear frame method some times.
Would i have to remove the exhaust damper?
I think so. I'll see
Happy wrenching ;)

ciao Joachim

Hi Guys

I don't drop the Sub Frame, it gains you nothing and it can be done without, I just offered a Life Line.
You have to remove too much, Silencer, Wiring Etc..... Maybe loosen it off and just ease it back but don't remove it.

Cheers

I just removed the upper 2 bolts the silencer bolts and slackened the 2 lower bolts then much easier to remove and fit the Y piece off the carbs

Kano/Joachim,
Thanks for the clarification, I’ll give it ago, makes a lot of sense. One question which you may chuckle over; I have removed everything which allows more work space and successfully removed the two outer bolts on the manifolds but how do you access the two inner hexhead bolts, one on top plus the bottom. I have tried cutting down an Allen key but cannot get the right angle to obtain leverage on either.

Thanks again, John

I would normally replace any hex head with an Allen bolt, but the manifold flange is much easier if fitted with hex head, cut off a short length of an Allen key to fit in a 1/4 drive socket with a u/j and an extension onto a ratchet was the way I removed the last time i did this.
