Joachim, Yep, the top one is moving but lower is very tight; gently working on it. The oil seal on the gear change is still position. I’m taking it very slowly as I’ve never had this problem before.

Your advice, as usual , is gratefully received.

Hi, thanks for that but I am sure all are out, 13 in total including that behind the rotor. I imagine that the one you missed was the one next to the oil pressure switch. I’ve managed to loosen the cover all along the top, down the front edge and along the bottom edge to the lowest bolt position where the dowel pin is. Cannot shift that at present or the back edge round the chain sprocket. Will get there in the end. May try a thin bearing puller.

Appologies it’s my eyesight!

I have to own up I found the 14th bolt! It was full of gunge and looked totally flush with the cover; removed it and the cover slid off. Now to check the starter clutch, washer, spacer bush and inner race all look good.

The starter spins up but is not connecting with the engine to turn it over. However If I manually turn the clutch it does turn the engine. I’m going to check the starter motor first just in case.
