Indeed.

I had a look at the Ducati belt mentioned in the OP. Dayco list one for 748/916/996.
94817.

Several different Renault Clio 16v references, none of them that. Though the Clio 1.2i 16v is 94910. So, personally, I wouldn't risk it, unless Megadyne/Isoran do one that is "near enough".

The cam belt saga
Checking through receipts that came with my Nordwest the previous owner, anybody know Mr Foxall of Evesham? Bought a timing belt from Fowlers on 19 January, again on 2nd June 2008 from Bob Wright and again from Fowlers on 23 July 2008.
This is where I caught a severe dose of 72degrees brain fart, a nasty virus affecting computer users
And due to the virus, plus my advanced years and dotage got confused, well that’s the best excuse I can come up with for now.
Anyway I rummaged in the bike house last night, the things you have to do for GeN, and dug out the belt I removed last year from my Nordie,
It is the Megadyne Isoran jobby with a number (not too clear) 321406/2 apart from the print being barely legible it looks to be in a good condition after 2 years but not used according to the MOT’s
I will remove the cover over the weekend just to confirm what Bob sold to me and let you know.

That's the original Gilera spare parts number.
/2 means the second edition ;)
The first ones are Pirelli marked.
The third (actual ones) are Dayco 94795.
I just have one left which is about 4 years old. Maybe i do not use it.
No need, because there are 2 from Gotttfried on the way.

ciao Joachim

Megadyne have a place just up the road from me in Dudley. I've emailed them to confirm they no longer do a suitable belt.

It looks like the Megadyne belt is fast becoming a collectors item and I should keep it as an appreciating asset :woohoo:

Kano State government gave us a dayoff work to alow us to register for the forthcoming elections.
I used the time more wisely, resealed the rear brake caliper which was sticking on,after I wissed of the side and cam cover to confirm I have a Dayco belt in there.
I think thats the end of the belt saga
