Indeed. Most testers seem to be ok with older/interesting vehicles and some are more interested in the bike than the test! Fingers crossed...

A flat cut off is OK. Some Japanese units were like that. A kick up to the wrong side is a no-no. I had to fit a Triom unit from a MuZ on the Voxan to get it through a MSVA test, but the tester said a flat cut off would also be OK (a Yamaha TRX850 unit would have worked as the moulding was the same shape but would have needed a relay to switch filaments as the Triom was twin independent beams).

That's good to know. Thanks very much for your help.
BTW did you have any problem with the Km speedo?

To be on the safe side for MSVA I had it re-dialled to dual KpH/MpH by a place in London.

The speedo isn't an MoT item. My Morini 250 has KpH speedo, so does the GFR but the MoT place don't mind. It's strictly a Construction & Use Regs offence on a recent bike not to display both but I wouldn't worry about it on a Saturno.

By far the majority of Saturnos in the UK were either imported from Japan or were built for the UK market, so as Japan drive/ride on the left their Saturnos would already be headlamp adjusted for the left (UK). Both my Saturnos came from Japan and I had no trouble with MOTs at all.

If you have a Saturno originally intended for Italy or other European Countries (very few were made), I seem to remember that there were instructions somewhere for changing a "right hand biased" headlamp bulb to left hand biased. Fairly certain this involved cutting one of the lugs on the bulb (it did matter which one was cut) then putting the bulb back the opposite way it was in originally. It was either in one of the workshop manuals (can't remember which model) or maybe was in one of the old "Grunt" Igottagilera newsletters.

You can certainly do that on the GFRs that use a halogen bulb but I'm not sure if it will work on a Saturno (Don't they have an old-style cap type bulb?) You can get a halogen conversion bulb for them by the way. Instructions for the GFR are on page 9 of the PDF of GeN#2 (page 19 of the newsletter):
