Took my newly acquired 500 saturno for a 200km ride today - great bike. for most of the ride the temperature gauge needle sat about middle - just into the second green zone on the gauge.

On the way home i got caught in Sydney traffic. The ambient temperature was about 28 degrees C and the bike got pretty hot, just below the red zone. The fan did not come on.

When I got home I connected the 2 wires leading to the temp sensor at the lower LHS of the radiator. Fan came on,, so I know the fan is operational.

Suspecting therefore that the temp switch is faulty. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement. Cant be a unique Gilera part, must be available somewhere.

I can wire in a manual switch for the meantime.

Hi

No expert, but have done a little research,

The Nordi/RC Fan Switch is a 330189

I believe it is a

Volvo 32866410

fitted to Volvo 340-360 and Porsche 928.

Have a bit of a Google and see if you concur.

Please let me know, good luck.

Pete

Hi Pete

thanks for the reply

The Saturno parts list shows the temp switch as 328047 not 330189......

I have communicated with another Saturno owner in Aus (HI Murray) who tells me that his fan only comes on when the needle just goes into the red zone on the gauge. Perhaps therefore mine does operate correctly as my needle never quite got into the red.

If this is the correct operation of the fan then its quite disconcerting - I don't like things going into the red!!!!

The 350/500 motor will probably have a different switch to the 558, hence the different part number.

Hi

Again, No expert But...

I just googled that part number it came straight up.Looks just like the Nordi/RC one.

The switch sits in the bottom of the left hand? radiator.

I have interchanged radiators they are the same dimensions.

The switch maybe a different thread size or a different temp range?

But at the cost of under £10 on FleaBay

The choice is yours?

Cheers

Pete.

Hi, Its a simple thermoswitch, very simple and I honed the 500 ones down to the same as Zacpike listed, I just had the same issue, as it is a 14 mm thread, 2 spade connectors and around 10 mm or so length of thread, all you need is one in the same operating temp, so I would say between 84 - 92 degrees, also if its a super hot place you could put a manual overide switch in the circuit too.
