I took the bike out for a ride this morning I manage to get 40 km to the fuel station and then when I went to restart the bike it was dead the neutral light was actually flashing for a while there was absolutely nothing from the headlight but I did have horn and the indicators flashed extremely dim
The starter relay clicks when I press the start button but I am suspecting that either the regulator has gone or it’s a problem with the alternator I am sitting here now waiting for Ivan to take me home but could anyone tell me if there is a readily available alternative regulator for these bikes

didn't Saturnos have a kick starter?

Maybe it's 'only' a dead batterie
In the workshop manual there is a discription how to test the regulator and the alternator.
And check the grounding of the harness.
If i remeber right, there is a problem with the charging circuit when the wire to the frame is broken.
At least at Nordies. Also the Saturnos? I just can not remember.
And check the fuse for the charging circuit

good luck, Joachim

the stator and rectifier all check out fine. Battery is still showing 10.7volts after overnight on a charger - looks like the 2 month old lead acid battery has a shorted cell.

Serves me right for buying a cheap Chinese battery. Dekka battery now on order.......

You need a good battery, I have been using Odyssey PC545 on all of mine and one of them is at least 8 years old ;)
