Folks,
Bob came up with a used thermostat for me which works, now another question, do I assume correctly that some thermostats have a little o ring at the end and some don't?, this one doesn't.

that's a thing i also was wondering for years.
There is a groove but no O-ring inside.
All Gilera thermostats i have in my hands miss the ring. Ok, that was not a very big amount. Maybe 3 or 4.
Usually thermostats have some kind of bleeder hole somewhere.
Maybe ours did not have this and therefore Luigi left out the sealing. This is also way cheaper i think
