I've discovered a long term leak of coolant into a head stud tunnel on my Saturno, and a badly corroded head stud. I've tried ordering some replacements through Motosparepartner - their page at www.motosparepartner.com/en/stoeterij-321557.html says they're available but I haven't had a response.

I'm just about resigned to getting a set made. If I do, would anybody else like a set as well?

Any other options that anyone knows of?

Hi Mark,
I would think they should be a rolled thread for extra strength rather than normal screw cutting.
Some time ago I did make some inquiries with ARP about some extra strong studs to hold the head down on the ex 72degrees Frigioli Nordwest big bore kit, which used to weep water out, they would have to custom make and were horrendously expensive
It may be worth contacting Co-ordsport as they advertise HT fasteners or Competition Engine Services, I'm sure I have seen an advert for a company in Northampton specializing in HT studs but can't find the add!!

What's the length and thread on these?
I've had luck finding Japanese equivalents in the past.

I did actually replace the head studs on the 'Norturno' with new ones. Bob Wright had them in stock at the time.

At least one of them isn't 'hollow' as an oil feed to the rocker gear like on a Giubileo. Making a replacement for one of those would be even trickier. Fortunately the one on the 98 Seigiorni is OK - unlike the small end bush was - but that's another story.

Big sigh of Relief. Motosparepartner have come through for me once I got in touch directly - seems to be a glitch in their website.

That's a useful site. Weird that they have Crono, SP01, SP02 and even CX 125 fiches but not the GFR!
