Hi folks,
Thanks for the replies, all helpful.
The rear line is actually braided, but of course that doesn't mean it's not damaged,I'll find out when I replace it, The brake is actually bad enough to fail an MOT, that's what's worrying me, and even Luigi wouldn't make a bike with such a brake....would he?.
I fitted a smaller diameter master cylinder to the front of my single disc Morini to improve the feel and efficiency, so I'm thinking fitting a smaller bore master cylinder to the Saturno would be the way to go?, a trade off between pedal travel and efficiency though?. Might be worth looking into, if the replacement brake pipe doesn't help, I might fit a master cylinder kit, although I have to say it feels fine, bleeds ok and isn't leaking.
Alan.

When I had both my Saturnos re-piped at rear brake, it made no difference at all. I think it's just that the rear brake is not designed to stop you quickly, just slow you down a bit. Front worked well though.

@ pppdrive, I tend to agree, I ride a le mans iv and the rear brake is not on the linked system and the braking feedback is negligable from the rear disc, it always passes a mot and helps stop me but its a 1986 brake and probably wasnt that amazing from the off especially as most braking inertia is transmitted into the front forks / brakes .... where the real stopping happens.

The rear brake on my Saturno is the same.

If you ride any modern sports bike the rear brake feels pretty much like the one on the Saturno in my opinion.

So I don't think there's anything to gain by increasing the power of the rear brake. It would simply lock up under heavy braking when most of the weight is transferred to the front wheel.

Rear brake on my Saturno wasn't up to much, and neither is the one on my Nordwest. To be honest the rear brakes on my Ducati's-apart from my 450RT which is a drum brake-have all been crap...... Who uses a rear brake anyway??
