No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationHi Folks,
At long last I rode my Saturno today for the first time, got about 20 miles and the front sprocket came off and punched a hole in the outer casing!. I guess I'm lucky it didn't damage the crank case
Now, I'm questioning whether or not I torqued it up, of course I thought I did, but it's done now.
The hole is around 10mm square.
Has this happened to anyone before?, if so, did you patch it?, weld it or replace the casing?.
It was held on with an allen bolt and a large washer, and spring washer, is this normal or should it have been a hex head bolt? like this?

Update!
Luckily I've found and bought a cover in Italy.
Yours with a glum face, not happy!. But a bit happier than a couple of hours ago!
Alan.

:pinch:

The parts for fixing the sprocket are shown in the ebay offer of Achim (sallysomething).
You need *all* of them.
The big spring washer, the (expensive) stepped washer, the small spring washer and the bolt.
No matter if it has a hex ore an allen key head.
But it should have the right thread.
Some years ago i found a normal M10 bolt at a flywheel.
I think it should have been M10x1,25. The one of the sprocket should also be that thread.

ciao Joachim

Joachim,
I had the allen screw (M10x1.25) and a large plate washer, I put in a spring washer, no stepped washer. I've bid on the correct parts from Achim, I hope I get them, I didn't know these parts existed, this is the problem when you get a bike and you don't know what has been done to it I suppose.
Alan.

My sprocket fell off 2 days ago - fortunately at a stop and no real damage. Culprit was the manual. For once I'd been following the book and torqued the bolt up to 60Nm. I can remember thinking "that's interesting, I'd have gone past there until it seated/snugged up". So do that - ignore the manual and tighten until it seats/snugs.

The bolt was at the correct torque before it was properly tight. Perhaps the thread is a bit damaged?
