where should i post this?
Here or in the other thread?

Like always everything looks like it is the same, but nothing is the same :(
The Saturno pump is about 2mm longer than the Nordie one.
The shaft is only 1mm longer, but noct on the side i suspected :pinch:
The Saturno pump is longer on the side where it is mounted in teh cylinder.
The driving pulley is somehow different. The Saturno is a welded from 2 parts, the Nordie one looks like one part
I have done some measurements shown in the chart below

The different length is shown in this picture. Left Saturno, right Nordie

The runners have different height. Also Saturno left, Nordie right.

Also the backsides of the runners are different
The step is deeper.
The Saturno runner has a 1,5mm bigger height, but the bore where the shaft is mounted is only 1mm longer

So that's not a help is suspect :(

ciao Joachim

Brilliant, thanks Joachim!

My Nordwest pump shaft is 59.4 so some manufacturing variation maybe....

this may be due to corrosion
One of my old shafts is also shorter but with a lot of rust on one end.

There doesn't seem to be any corrosion at either end.
I am thinking the overall length is not super critical.
The distance of impeller and the pulley to the central shoulder though is important.

it would be good to have a few more data points regarding length. Anyone else have a shaft they could measure?

Peter I've been sending you email messages to inquire about the status of the water pump I ordered and paid for last year. Could you please contact me?

I just picked up a new water pump shaft that a friend machined for me from 316 stainless steel.

I know that there is some debate on whether the shaft should be hardened and ground but I thought I'd try 316 first and see how it goes.

I still need to remove part of one bearing shell before reassembly but it's getting there :)
