I've noticed that the fan on my 350 Saturno has never come on. I've bypassed the thermostat switch and it works fine so I was wondering if the switch was faulty or if the fan is rarely needed.

In heavy traffic the temperature gauge will climb to the top of the green bar but no further. Is this normal?

you may put the switch in a pot of boiling water.
Together with a teperature gauge and a Ohm meter to see at wich temperature it is closing the switch
The temperature when it should close is printed on the switch
