Well, I managed probably a couple of hundred miles on the Saturno, and my newly overhauled water pump is leaking, or at least there's a water leak from that area.
I pulled it off tonight, rotates perfectly, should do, new rubber sealed bearings, the new o ring is 2.5mm (actually 2.47) wall by 49. The seal kit I used was the one with the stronger spring and slightly longer, 2mm I believe, it was all Westcoast seals had, others seem to have used it and been OK.

The shaft was like new when I stripped it, no wear or damage.
Anyone had a similar problem?, Joachim, any ideas?, do you think I need the shorter seal?.
Hi Bison, me n ZacPike have wasted hours discussing water pumps and in theory they are not that technical, despite there being strict guidelines to follow, if you have pictures or a part by part analysis of what you overhauled etc and how it would really help... its like clutching at straws otherwise, also we have discussed burgman seals versus the italian seals and the seal compression to make the shaft water tight, he will hopefully add some info when he reads this.... cheers for now.

OK, I have a cunning plan, well, not that cunning, and probably clutching at straws.
I watched a You Tube video (often a mistake), about tensioning the belt, in it it said the manual was incomplete, and the belt should be tensioned when the inlet cam was ramping, so the top run was tensioned between the cam wheels, the belt was pretty slack in that position, and should be tensioned at that spot. I did it that wayNow, I'm wondering if the belt was too tight, whether it could be flexing the water pump shaft or housing, and allowing a tiny bit of water to leak?.
I'm going to build it up again, tension the belt as normal, IE what the manual says, and leave the cam belt cover off, get it up to temperature and see if I can see any leaks. Yes I know, unlikely, but nothing to lose.
OH yes, another question, who is Zak Pike?, a fictional character?, it seems Zaks real name isn't Pike?, I only ask because my surname is Pike.
I do agree about your cam belt timing, its very important, but there are marks on the rotor and the casing to align on the 558's and the marks on the cam are across the cambox horizontally, the jockey wheel spring takes care of tension, 2 full rotations of the crank to check marks align up again at tdc. Zac can explain his Pike himself
Yep, timing is no problem, it's the tension I think may have been too high.
Anyhow, I just built it back up again, and just pouring the coolant in and it started leaking, yes, from the shaft. So, I've turned up all the tools to strip it, I'll take it into work tomorrow and get it on the press and dismantled.
I see Peter(?) from Pemopa is selling seals, presumably that will fit into the original pump body?. Might have to get them from him. I read someone had new shafts made up, any idea who it was?.
