The bevel washer looks good with no cracks but I've noticed that mine looks different to the one in the spare parts book. My washer is in two parts with a top hat spacer that goes through the bevel washer and holds it in place. There is also a standard spring washer on my retaining bolt but that may have been fitted by a previous owner .

I've also noticed that the service manual lists a different torque setting for the bolt in two places.

(1-8)(1-4) Chain drive sprocket bolt - 60nm

(6-6)( 6-3) Chain sprocket fastening bolt ** - 40nm
** Loctite 270

Both sound plausible.

Who would have thought that refitting the sprocket would bring up so many questions

I took the Saturno out for a test ride today and put around 90klm on it. The new seal is good with no signs of leaking.

I also marked the sprocket retaining bolt and washers with paint and checked them during the ride. There's been no movement so it looks like I got that right too :)

It wasn't too hot and the roads weren't that busy when i left in the morning. There were a lot of classic cars out today which was nice to see.

You are a lucky man, the rain is bouncing off the ground here in Scotland!, and it's COLD!.
