Anyone have any dodges for getting the fork tops unscrewed from the main stantion tube as both my sets seem to be chewed/rounded/no longer hexagonal?

I need to replace the seals so a complete strip and clean seems to be on the cards.

Before trying to unscrew the fork tops don't forget to loosen the clamp bolts on the top fork yoke.
That makes live much easier

Yup, that's the ones. I considered filing the flats as I don't wanna go down the stilsons route just yet but the metal seems so damn soft and the hex is small to start will.

You really want a hex spanner to spread the loads a little more than open end jobbies as they have O ring seals do not have to be too tight ;) try to clean up the damaged hexagon to fit a spanner or make a spanner from 4 or 5mm plate B)
