Hi I'm new here and just bought a 1992 nordwest that needs a starter. Does anyone know of any other model that will fit or am I screwed as parts seem few and far between

Is it the starter, or the starter clutch? In the style of the six million dollar man, they can be rebuilt - search on here, lots of info about alternative parts for the clutches etc.

It's the starter the windings are down to earth
Stripped it and found one of the winding coils has a snapped coil

Try West Country Winders to see if they can repair, I have used them a couple of time but not with a Gilera starter motor.

The starter body is the same as other japanese bikes (I had this chat with ZacPike) so swap nose parts or rear mounting/ brush housing and job can be done...was it a yamaha starter motor ZP ?
