The GeN Web Site Goes Live

The Gilera Network re-launches today with a new CMS web site. Register now to access registered user areas.

Article authors welcome! If you would like to submit articles for inclusion in 'The GeN' please send the Administrator a Personal Message.

The founder members of the original Gilera Network are involved in this new project but we need new blood to help the GeN grow. If enough people are interested it may be possible to have meetings etc., however, that isn't going to happen without volunteers to form a new committee.

The good news is GeN is back after a break of too many years, all we need now is to get enough feedback and contribution of printable material, even smut is acceptable as long as it’s funny, from you lot out there to get it up and running. As I have mentioned on igottagilera this is your club, you have to put something in to make it work and be informative and entertaining, just don’t expect 72degrees and pppdrive to write everything. We have had many members sign on to join who are never heard from again, let us know who you are, which area you live (we don’t want your address) what you ride, even none Gilera’s we like other bikes as well (I think that’s allowed) if you have a problem, others can try to help you, or you just want a ride out or a chin wag with others in your area this is the way to start things and keep it moving. Just to start the ball rolling you can hear a little about me. I’m an old geriatric bugger living/working in Kano north Nigeria for more than 30 years, I only intended to come maybe 2 or 3 years, but Africa is funny like that you either run away kicking and screaming before 6 months is up or you get hooked. It’s a place with lots of problems, but also has good points if you look a little deeper. For a biker there is unlimited bush to ride and no restrictions, just follow any little track you can find just to see where you end up. Once out riding with a friend we followed a bicycle track to a walled 4 house village and had to turn around in the open air kitchen, much to the amusement of the women and children. Here in Kano there 4 other people I know with off road bikes with a total of six bikes starting with a KLX650 I used to own, an old Xr600, 2 KTM’s, a Husky and my much modded XR440. The guy with the KLX also has a 600CBR which is not used much as we don’t have too many good roads for a sports bike. I also have here in Kano a Morini 500-6 and a Nordwest, which I liked so much I bought a barn find RC600 unseen for spares, I decided it is too good for spares on seeing it, so bought a spare engine and other bits and bobs for spares. Then I thought why not build up a Saturno (as any sane person would do) using the spare engine and almost got interested in a frame for sale in Germany, until 72degrees rescued me from total insanity by telling me about the Nortuno he used to own that was not being used much and the owner may like to sell. So now I have 2 Gilera’s, a spare engine, crank, carbs, double headlight cowl, morini sport seat and other bits sitting in store in the UK waiting to be shipped back to Kano. It is good my friends GSXR1000, sent to me from Lagos (over 1000Km) for repairs, is ready and crated to go back to him or my bike house would be filled to the brim. So Be Warned, if none of you submit anything to publish on GeN I’ll be forced to write more and bore the ass off you with the story of my life starting with my 1st ride at age 13 on my sisters boyfriends 350AJS around the outside of Darwen football field!! John

So I have scanned to searchable PDF GeN#27,30,33,34, and 35 (April 2003).

If you have any of the missing issues please contact me via the Contact page.

Here is a link to all that are now available with a Google Custom Search, though it may take a while for that to include the later issues, if at all. You may have to download the PDF (save target as) to search (use Ctrl/F or Right Click/Find).
