Hi All,

My RC600 float bowl overflow has a blocked drilling, this is the drilling that has the higher outlet underneath the bowl and is plugged, it has another cross drilling at about 45 degrees to bridge with a second drilling, to make matters worse my spare TK carb that came with the Norturno also has the same drilling blocked, I’ve tried cleaning both with trichloroethylene aerosol carb cleaner and compressed air without success, what I really need to try is an ultrasound bath, but have as much chance of a snowball in hell of finding one here.
The next option is to bring both float bowls back to UK in September and try to find somebody with a bath to get them cleaned, or drill out the plugs here, clean if possible and replace the plugs, any other ideas out there apart from fitting my spare pair of Keihin flat slides, I DO NOT need more power in a low geared dirt bike that will be used off road!! I could end up wrapped around a termite mound, or a tree and become vulture food??
Regards
John

a blast with compressed air?
Maybe combined with some solvent.
2times, 3times, 4times.....

Good luck, Joachim

Hi Joachim,
Used solvent (tricloroethethyline) many many times plus compressed.
I drilled out the plug inside the float bowl and it appears to be a blind hole :( and not connected to the outlet immediately opposite on the outside :S
I am wondering if this is actually a blind hole and not used, but why plug it on the inside of the bowl
The only way for me to check this would be to take the carb of the Nordie which is working fine  It would give me and excuse to fit the Keihin flatslides :woohoo:
Regards
John

T-K carbs are strange, I removed the carbs of my Norndie and found this outlet is also block and the bike is running fine. I have come to believe this drilling is not used and is not drilled through from the inside of the float bowl to the outlet underneath the bowl, but why would T-K drill part way and then fit a plug  :S  Having drilled out the plug from one float bowl and poked about inside both in and outside I cant find any sign of another drilling :woohoo:
While the Nordie carbs were off I had a little measure up of the Keihins that 72degrees had on his Nordie hillclimb bike, they are fitted with bellmouths not a good idea here with all the dust we have but look as if the standard flexy trunking and airbox should fit.
All I need is more weekends to do all the things pending B)
Regards
John
