Hello all. I'm about to launch into a kickstart conversion on my Nordy and have a problem working out what the device beneath the kickstart shaft actually does.
There's a shaft with a lever and lifting device but where does the cable connect to? There's a support lug on the casting for the outer cable to sit in. It's not connected to the head so it's not the valve lifter device.
Can anyone with an RC600 shed any light on the matter?
Many thanks........ :S

Kano Nordi might be along soon but meanwhile have a look at this article by David Champion in 'The GeN' September 1999 - starting at page 8.

What kind of lever would you like to use?
There might be a problem with the Nordies driver foot rest :(
The Saturno lever will not fit.
I have heard that the RC/R lever will, but this one might be very hard to find.
RC, RC/C and XRT should fit with some work. At least i have heard about that.
The Nordie cylinder head has all the holes for the valve lifter.
But i am not shure if the rocker arms have the little nose for the lifter.
I am just wondering if a Saturno rocker arm will fit. Using the Nordie cams on a Saturno means also to change the rockers. Due to some problems with the space left. So it should be possible.
I know someone who has a kickstarter on his Nordie. I will try to ask him ;)

ciao Joachim

Many thanks for your responses and the link.
I trawled through half a dozen of the old GEn copies and couldn't find the info. I'll have a look in my loft and see if I can find a hard copy of the one in your link as i'll then be able to see the piccies too.
I bought the kickstart kit from Bob Wright so hopefully all should fit eventually, although he did send me the wrong part for the decompressor and will forward the correct (cylinder head) part hopefully this week.
Many thanks again.
Mick.

Hi Mick,
I fitted a kickstart bought from a chap in Germany to my RC and it all went together without problem apart from having to make a bolt that acts as a stopper for the kickstart pawl in the back of the gearbox case.
I did not bother with trying to find bits for the valve lifter, being a bit of a masochist and having many bikes without an electric leg in the past :woohoo:
Regards
John
