I would guess you scrolled through the igottagilera newsletters, the old GeN is a bit more subtle
Look to main menu on the left, click on "about Gilera network" and at the bottom of the page there is a link "the GeN issues 1-25" some where in there, I think written by Dave Champion, but quite a while since I read it.

That's great, thanks, though the funny thing is, my frame number is much later, and is a '93 bike, but I only have two fuses, though there is only one black box, (plus the voltage regulator with silver fins).
So, not really sure !
But it goes ok now, so wont worry until it goes wrong !!

93 is the registration date, maybe the build date was earlier? look inside the plastic panels there is a circular date stamp moulded into them, if they show 91 that could be the reason for CDI ignition

or a previous owner had his fingers in between. Making one running from two not running ones.
Some years ago we had a not running Nordie in the german forum.
It turns out that someone has mixed the two systems together.

If I remember correctly, one of the plastics had a '92 on it. The black box does not look original, it has been glued into place, and I seem to recall it had a different number of wires from either system !
Not to worry, she seems to run ok now, and I filled her with fresh oil, MoT booked for midday tomorrow - gulp !
