Hi All, I am trying to hunt down the circlip inside the sprag clutch, as mine is broken, it seems it is an 'axial rotation centreing circlip' and has 10 outward legs that act on the inner body of the sprag, I have been on engineering suppliers site and this is a specialist circlip, looks similar to other bike sprage circlip, but any info most welcome.

The good news .....

Its this part: KTM, No. 584.40.026.000. This part fits 100 % for Gilera !

As for the circlip ...... phew, thats gonna be hard to find.

not for those who did not throw away everything. Those who had a broken starter clutch will have the circlip.
Achim has asked me ;)

ciao Joachim

No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationSprag clutch garter spring is replaced, theres a guy on e bay selling the springs... with my pics to show how shot the old spring was, thanks to Zac Pike for the lead in that direction.

Whilst apart, its was a good time to thoroughly clean casings, replace gear shaft oil seal, new oil and filter and to get 'intimate' with the old RC again, its back together and a little further fettling to do then I can see if it springs into life with out those terrible noises.... also thanks to Achim for supplying the magical missing part... aka my broken circlip, forums keep these old and much loved girls on the road.thanks all.
