I picked up a 2nd Nordwest a couple of weeks ago, that have been stored under a cover in the guys front garden for at least 5 years. Yes it is in a bit of a state, but was not siezed.

I put WD40 down the bore and left it for a couple of days to soak in, then hooked a battery up.

I got exactly the same click but no turn as you describe. I put a meter on the thick wire down on the starter motor and got 12V - so I knew that power was getting to the starter. So assumed a seized starter motor or bad connection.

Checked the nut holding the cable on to the starter and it was not tight. Took it off cleaned up everything and put it back tight and it turned over fine.

The bike wouldn't start but that is leaking valves from outdoor storage - so it is a head off job and grind the valves in.
