As I get started on my 2nd Nordwest I am now coming upon what I think is a normal problem namely that the inlet rubbers are perished or just plain old.
I notice from other posts that 2nd hand good replacements would appear to be thin on the ground, so something to look into.
I now have a 92 model with the square inlet manifold and a 91 with the RC600 separate inlet manifolds on - so yes I have both options!
My 1st question is does anyone know if the carburettor was fitted to any other motorcycle, I think it was on one of the Yamaha big singles, but would like to know for certain.
If so then, with a bit of luck they will have used separate inlet rubbers, they will still be available and I can put together a conversion kit.
Basically I am looking at CNC machining both types of inlet stub from blocks of solid alloy, that will have a grove to take an appropriate rubber that will then mount the carb. So in future an owner only needs by replacement rubbers when they rot out.
