Well after consultations with my two sons, ok we went down the pub for a few beers, we now have a plan for the Nordwest that I picked up over August Bank Holiday weekend.

Whilst we know that it runs and appears to be mechanically healthy, it is a cosmetic mess. The resolution of our meeting was that we intend to strip it completely over Christmas and bring it back to a decent condition. This will include:

Blast and re-paint the frame.
Blast and re-paint the engine.
New chain and sprockets.
Blast and re-paint the brake calipers.
Re-paint the plastic bodywork.

So I now have a few items that I am looking for recommendations on:

What is the best set of tyres to fit.
Anyone know of someone who refurbishes the brake calipers or is that something we can do? Do you have to use a special type of high temperature paint.
Where can we get a graphics set.

Chris

Firstly Hi Chris you seem to be showing up as yourself OK now!
I will try to reallocate your old messages that got crossed up with another userid. That user is no longer active so I should be able to do it. Needs keyhole surgey on the database so bear with me as I don't want to screw it up.

I use to run Prirelli Dragon Corsas on the 604 hillclimber , but that was a long time ago ;)
You should be able to refurbish the calipers so long as you can get at least seals and possibly pistons. The Brembos on Nordies are quite sought after for other machines and were fitted commonly. Ebay links aren't working here yet but google: "Brembo Goldline Front Brake Caliper Seal Repair Kit Single Pad Pin Fixing"
D'oh - rubbish Nordies use Grimecas - still worth asking the seller of those to advise on a nordwest!.
Also found this thread on the forum (the Search function is quite good).

High temp paint is advisable on caliper, but I've never resprayed any.
I sold a complete early pink/black set many years ago (with all new panels!), but OEM must be like hen's teeth now. Uncle Bob may have some individual items.
Someone may be doing patterns. I note I could get the tasty 'Fuel Oil' tank one for a GFR off ebay - at £50!

i have paintd the calipers of my Nordie with a can of this brake paint.
Of course in red ;)
Lasts since years....

I have also refurbished my calipers with new sealings.
There are fitting seals available from Aprilia and KTM.
You have to mix up 2 sets which is rather expensive.
I got mine way ceaper from he-motorradtechnik.de
But i am not shure if they are still selling this.
If you need help ordering something....

ciao Joachim
