I'm the new owner to a late, UK model, Nordwest 600.
Bike is nice and clean. Just had a full engine rebuild.
On giving the bike a once over, I found that the air filter wasn't fitting correctly in the air box. The filter support was missing.
I have now fitted a filter support and a foam type filter instead of the paper type fitted originally.
However, there is still a small gap though to the intake that bypasses the filter.
It's like the lid is missing a part, even though everything looks original.
Can anyone help? Do I have a piece missing or are they all like this? I'd love to get this sorted asap so I can put some miles on her in the good weather.
Thanks for your help, Sam.

Hi
The Filter sits in a frame that extends to cover that section, I looked earlier today. Sorry not to be of more help. I will try to get a photo of the frame. The photo wont be an issue, attaching it might be.

Cheers

After a chat with Zac-man, I checked my nordy, the rectangular air filter sits in a cartridge, baically a rectangle and on one long side it has a lip the width of the air boxs slimmer width towards the carbs, on that lip, stuck on it, a foam strip 1/2 a cm wide and 4 cm long, stuck there to create the seal.

Thanks Nig

The Filter sits in a frame which has a tab that fills the gap shown in Mules photos.
But Also a seal (foam) is required up off of that tab to meet the barrier (wall) in the Air box lid, that creates the dirty and clean air areas. (study it, you will work it out)

Guy check yours, otherwise unfiltered air will be entering the engine.

Good one Mules, got me thinking

Cheers,

Zac Pike
