Hi, learning a lot recently re my 600 RC

However Having identified my problem as being the actual starter motor & not the starter clutch, I replaced the side cover gasket, oil changed and am just waiting for my replacement starter to arrive. However I am now unable to select 4&5th gears. Can get 1st, neutral, 2nd & 3rd.I am pretty sure the Selector mechanism was not disturbed when the cover was removed/refitted. I have checked the manual and am unable to find any relevant information regarding possible problems etc. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi RT,
I'm a little surprised you have selector problems,
The starter motor Sprag drive is to the rotor/stator side of the engine, all the gear selector system is on the R-H side, which I'm guessing you did not disturb? If you did it will have to come off again to look at the rotary selector drum and its selector system, also the selectors to make sure nothing is obstructing them.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve since found that by rocking the bike back/forwards It feels as though I can get all gears. However it doesn’t snt feel as smooth; I need to give a good road test to check.

Road test is a good idea, going through the gears, especially the higher gears by rocking the bike will not give a proper feel of it, if it's not broke don't mend it

LH side there is the bottle opener :)
Maybe ....
But if you have the cover back on it's place, try the road test before
