Two queries, hopefully someone may have experienced both.

My temp gauge rises to the top of the second green segment on start up, which I believe to be correct, then drops down when the thermostat opens. It then rises back up to the correct position as above but then drops back into the blue (cold) area for the rest of the run. On next start up it does exactly the same. No coolant is being pushed into the expansion bottle and fans function correctly. Does this point to the sender; It tests ok in accordance with the manual.

I have found the problem in that the lead from the temp sender has developed an intermittent break where it is soldered to what looks like a diode incorporated whin the lead; what does this do and is it necessary. It is indicated on the wiring diagram as a small circle.

With the decompressor cable it is set exactly as the manual describes with no free play and 1.5 clearance from the lever to the pin. When the bike is running the cable slackens off to 4/5 mm until the engine is stopped when it returns to the correct tension. My question is is the slackening correct when the engine is running as described?

as it may be of interest for someone else here....

at the early Saturnos the needle in the gauge was always close to the red line.
So some owners are rather nervous.
Luigi has a simple and cheap solution.
He just put a resistor in the wire and.... tata.... the nedle went back a piece

As far as i know the wire with the resistor is also there on other Gileras.
Have a look at the colored rings
brown/green/black/gold?
That would be 15Ohm 5% The size might be about 0,25W
Bigger ones (1Watt or more) are also ok, but take care that you are able to mount the wire. And use some shrink tube to seal and fix the resistor

ciao Joachim
