I need a new Y manifold, the one between air filter and carb. Luca on the Italian site can supply, but I have been trying to get one from him for 6 or 8 weeks.
He sent me a scan of a form, possibly Italy Post, possibly a carrier, which I eventually realised he wanted filling in. Not possible in the form he sent it. However I managed to select the various headings, copy then into the online translator, and put the scan heading with my details alongside for him to copy into the original form. Now, after another couple of weeks, he sent me this:-- SPEDIRE LA MERCE IN INGHILTERRA E’ UN PROBLEMA NON INDIFFERENTE....
MI SERVE ANCHE IL TUO CODICE FISCALE which the online translator converts to this:--
HELLO SHIPPING THE GOODS TO ENGLAND IS A CONSIDERABLE PROBLEM.... I ALSO NEED YOUR TAX CODE ANONYMOUS. Clearly I can not send personal tax details, unless the translator made a mistake. Is there anybody here who understands Italian methods who can advise. Better still, does anybody have contacts there who could find some way to sort things out and speed things up. I know. I can not proceed further with The NordWest until I have the manifold. Nick, also on this forum wants one, and may well have got the same message today.
HELP! HELP!!
Cheers, Les.

I believe he needs your VAT number. With Brexit, that is mandatory to ship anything...

Thanks, I made various enquiries today and it seems it is to do with VAT. However, as a non-VAT registered private citizen, it will not avail anything. However it does look like it is my personal tax number that is required according to a knowledgeable accountant friend.. I sell a set of plans for a novel single to three phase converter, and they are posted into the EU and other parts of the world. I have to fill in a customs form, which wants recipients name, address, and my VAT number if I have one. I struggle to see why different info is required to send stuff here. I have bitten the bullet and sent it to Luca. Fingers crossed.
Thanks, Les.

I have purchased several items from Germany since Brexit, the seller just needs to declare value of the item on the Italian side when arranging dispatch for the Uk customs. No problems at all, works without problem. Cannot see why Italy should be a problem. I would not think there will be any duty Owed as there is a value below which most items are duty free.

Not anymore.... and it's not Italy that has the parcel service for outside the EU all *#**ed-up. Because any parcel now is taxable, customs have huge backlogs and services are overwhelmed with work...

I do not believe that to be correct. If your item purchased is less than £135.00 there should not be any additional taxes or duties. I recently ordered a bike tyre from Germany at £120.00. There were no additional costs or duties, straight through uk customs and arrived in less than seven calendar days by DPD.
