Things have moved on since my first post. Nick, (of this list) also wanted one and got the same request. His Lady advised him it was probably needed, so he provided info and sent the money for the manifold and postage. As i regularly send documents world wide, I am fully aware of what needs to go on (UK and Isle of Man) customs forms. These all go through the Post Office, so I phoned them for advice. The person I spoke to had no knowledge of such needs, and said NO, don't give your info.
I have a pal who is a recently retired tax advisor of wide experience.so I ran the question past him. He had had a similar problem for stuff from Germany, so made enquiries to the company concerned. It seems it is all related to VAT requirements, and since he is not a VAT registered business, like me, it is strictly NOT required. However he did provide it to ensure he got the stuff. He has since concluded that somebody asking for the info is more likely to be "genuine" (not that I doubted Luca) so he advised me to provide the info. That i did, and a few days ago sent Luca the money. By this time, Nick had already received his manifold. I am still waiting.
One thing I did pick up from some of the stuff Luca sent me, was that much of the new requirements do cite BREXIT as the reason for this amount of detail.
Regards, Les.

Well, it looks like I will get it soon. It seems Luca put Nick's details into my package, so it is in England, not Isle of Man, and Nick will need to post it on to me!
I contacted Luca just to be sure he had not sent Nick an extra one, and mine still on its way. He confirmed he had used Nick's details by mistake. He also said shipping to UK was too much trouble, and he will not send anything else!
So, if you are in "Brexit country", and want anything from his catalogue, it looks as if you will be out of luck!
Regards, Les.

Just to add info, Luca in Italy has managed to get two excellent new Y-manifolds to the UK for us but found the experience so difficult that he has said 'never again'! I don't know why he had such trouble and needed our tax codes, since another post-Brexit purchase of an exhaust for a 1957 Guzzi seemed very straightforword without extra information. I did have to pay some import duties though.

I guess it is time to close this off. Recapping, both Nick and I ordered a Y manifold. I paid extra, presumably because Italian post thinks Isle of man is more difficult. But he then posts it to Nick. I appraise Luca of the situation and he indicates he will pay for postage from nick to me. (I assume he only paid the lower amount since it was not addressed to Isle of Man. Later I told him cost of postage from Nick. His reply was this:--dammi qualcosa dove versarti la spesa, mi scuso.....
luca ---- which the www translates as -- give me something to pay you the groceries, I apologize..... luke. ---- Not sure what that means, but it makes me think I have been taken for a ride. Les.
