I see from the info in the GEN manual that the hard-to-reach choke knob can be replaced with a handlebar control. The Yamaha SRX series is mentioned as a source but I wonder if anyone here can supply more information as to the modification on the carb itself? The 'bar lever and cable look quite easy to source, but does one have to improvise for the bottom end?
Thanks,
Nick

David Champion is the expert on this. It looks as if a replacement choke 'plunger' was available. See Gen #12:

Thanks for that. The replacement plunger and gooseneck are still available under 1JK1410A04, but are not cheap at £67, and that doesn't include the cable and bar control.
Maybe I should get this particular Nordie running and on the road first!

I used a cold start valve that I bought from Aliexpress. Reprofiled the end very slightly to match the original(don't know if I needed to) Lawnmower throttle lever from Ebay and made my own cable. Have to add that I had a few carb bits lying around i.e bit that screws into the carb to locate the cable. Probably cost about 20 quid in total. Still a bit of a faff to find the sweet spot when starting but easier than groping under the tank. Does not like full choke at any time. Still working out what I have to do to the twin C.V carbs from a Yam Grizzly. That is a work in progress. Good luck.
