Heh, not so sure about "what I do best" but I'll be off out in to the garage in a while (after taking advantage of a gloriously mild day to do a bit of garden work and perhaps even get the Morini out).

Took the head off the lad's YZ125 yesterday. The bore doesn't look too bad and the Clymer manual reckons a compression test should only be about 10% more PSI than I measured (the MX 'expert's claim it should be much higher). I'll still pull the cylinder off to do a rudimentary check on the big end though and may well treat it to a new piston anyway. 17 inch rims now fitted and Bridgestone 125 GP wet tyres. Still got to put new wheel bearings in the front, fit a new rad on one side, nail on the new plastics...

Keeps me busy. We may even get to meet at a hill climb this year as I'm selling 'the chateau' and we are doing a lot more events so that the lad has a ggod stab at a pot in his last season as a junior. Provisional dates list is up and will be confirmed at the NHCA AGM on 5 February. Definitely Wiscombe in September though.

Hi Pete
Get the Yz sorted I don't want to hear any excuses for you not competing this year and hope we do bump into each other, though unlikely to be the September do at Wiscombe as it's a bikes only jobbie, the day after the MGcc event, which I have done the last few years on the Saturday, we are just leaving and heading off to Gurston Down as you are arriving :(

The YZ125 is going to take more than my skills to sort it - main bearings are clapped out :(

Off to Revs with it tomorrow so it should be ready by March.

I would have got to Wiscombe (and could have arrived a bit early) last year if I hadn't been struck down with the lurgi. The lad was really disappointed as doing the two meetings that weekend would have almost certainly got him 3rd in the junior championship (yes there are more than three riders!).

Is that an Italian sickness. or a reminder of the Goon Show (I'm old enough to remember) B)

That's the problem with 2 strokes, less moving parts but more to go wrong in the heart of the beast - I suppose if it's a hill climber it'll be getting its neck wrung every inch of the way......

We are usually in Cornwall about late August so we might take a trip over if you guys are racing in early Sept, my father-in-law keeps his a boat in Falmouth so it's not a million miles away.

Hi Bomber,
It would be good to see you, by race 'bike' has a modded Kwaka zzr1100 motor and 4 wheels, on account of old age and lack of balance  which is why Pete and I are like ships passing in the night, he is just arriving and I'm rushing off to the next venue, packing in as many events as possible in my few weekends in the UK.
Regards
John
