The TLR used to back fire due to the fuel injection sytem, my TL1000s backfired flames on over run, loads of I fun in tunnels.

Maybe you should check the clearance of the valves.
Or there is ta leak somewhere between carb and cylinder head.

The inlet manifold looks old so could do with a new one, are they making them?

Hi Booster,
Inlet manifolds are hard to find, the bonded on rubber mouldings become hard and crack when old, water gets under the rubber and the alli casting corrodes,
I stripped the rubber from one in this condition to make new castings using short rubber connections between the manifold and carbs, I think somebody in Italy has done something similar, its still work in progress.
