what was your problem with the clutch?
Heavy slaming noise while cranking?
The motor did turn only very slow?

The clutch is well known for problems.
If you have this noise it's worth to open the clutch and replace the roller pack inside with a KTM spare part.
Some have only replaced the long spring around the rollers.
But.... that solution may not last very long.

Big relief when you spot the free and easy problem

Joachim, I replaced the inner with a genuine KTM part two years ago. The starter had worked perfectly since then until recently when returning from a run. The starter motor appears to spin up correctly on the button but does not turn the engine at all, just a whirring sound no clunking sound. If I examine the starter clutch without opening it, it appears to connect as intended working in one direction only. My next move is to open the starter motor case and check the output shaft and planetary gears to eliminate any problems there before attacking the starter clutch internals.
