Thanks for that useful info Joachim. To be fair that's what Maxton said back in 1995 when perhaps progressive fork springs were not available for Nordwests. Though If I remember several people put them in Saturnos.

I think they meant no prospect of 're-valving' and were not impressed by not having both rebound and compression damping on both legs.

Mine was certainly very poor at dealing with ripples in the tarmac when laid right over :(

I thought that the forks only have one spring, curious that some vendors advertise a "pair" of springs at £80 !

Maybe you are a lucky boy and they will send you 2 for that price. Please share with another Gilera owner ;)
Don't ask back if that's ok, like i have done some years ago.
I thought i should mount 2 springs.
The called back, said that they have made a mistake and ask me to send the second spring back :(

ciao Joachim

Hello all,
Well i have decided to go for a Wilbers front spring. The guys at the BM club really rate their equipment so thought i would give it a go. Hagon spring seemd a bit expensive at £80 !
Will put in some 10 weight dedicated fork oil and see what happens.
That aside i was pondering the situation along with previous feed back that the forks have rebound and damping in different legs. That coupled with the "one spring" must mean a degree of twisting/unequal forces. So i reckon a good solid frok brace might help as well ??!!
More anon

Hi Stephen,
For road riding I doubt you need to do any mods, this from me who has always modded everything I ever owned, but because I like too, things can be improved but I suspect only in competition will you gain anything, 72degrees said he used to notice a few problems with his hillclimb Nordie, if you visit the hillclimb events you would see the tracks are not so smooth like a race track.
Modify because you like to do it, not just to get to work 5 minutes faster  :woohoo: :S

Not sure how to rig up a fork brace on UD forks. The spring is probably going to be noticeable, but other mods aren't really going to make much difference unless riding round at 10/10ths, which I try to reserve for closed courses.

My Nordie would tend to try to 'stand up' if laid well down in to a fast ripply bend and you had to fight the bars a bit to keep it on line. As Kano Nordi says hill climb tracks aren't like public roads, or even short circuit courses, and I don't think he's ever been to Hartland Quay :)

I did rate the 'Quadrant' upgraded rear shock I put on mine with ride height adjustment and damping tweak screw. That would be a better place to start with suspension enhancement. A lot of handling problems actually originate at the back end rather than the front.
