Hi all,
Some more help please.
Oil change time but what to use?
Bob Wright shows Rockoil Guardian, is this the best bet?

Front forks, anyone had any experiences of after market springs, if indeed such items exist ?
Was thinking of putting a dedicated fork oil in place instead of engine oil, again any thoughts would be gratefully received
Thanks
Stephen

I have used to good effect Rock oil in the modded ZZR 1100 engine in my race car, here in Nigeria the only oil I can buy not formulated here (rats piss) is Mobil 1, so that what I have used B) so far so good despite the stories of synthetics knackering Sprag clutches, I've got 2 spares and fingers crossed B)
You only have 1 spring in Nordie USD forks, unless you have a problem, ie you are way under or above average size why change??
I changed the my fork seals to AllBalls kit,
Regards
John

Any decent 10w-40 semi-synthetic oil will do in the engine so long as you change it frequently. I used Silkolene in the hill climb bike. Possibly best if it is 'Motorcycle' JASO spec. for the sprag clutch.

As Kano Nordi said there's not a lot you can do with the forks given the weird damping arrangements. They are the 'weakest' point of a Nordie. Even Maxton say there is no way to improve them save replacing them. I *think* it might be possible to replace the legs with much better Paioli 'racing' ones at vast expense.

Hi

as Pete said JASO MA specification is a good choice for motorcycle wet clutches.

Of course there are a lot of fork modifications out there.
I also use something like this, but i did not knaow to much about that, because i bought it used.

You can get progressive fork springs (only one) of several brands. White Power (from the Netherlands, nothing to do with US White Power), Technoflex and so on. I do not know if you can also get these products in GB.
German importer claims the following for the Nordie fork:

Left hand side (the one with the spring) SAE10 400ccm, right hand side SAE15 400ccm.
My fork uses both SAE15 and 130mm air gap above the oil.

Just as a starting point for your personal setup.
Not to forget, there are 2 different front tires out there. The more stiff 120/60 and the 'softer' 120/70.

ciao joachim

Thanks Guys
I thought that the forks only have one spring, curious that some vendors advertise a "pair" of springs at £80 !

Thanks
