Hello!

I have recently bought a Nordwest and am in the process of restoring it. The problem I have is that it has a non original twin headlight unit and I am looking for the orginal single unit.

Does anyone have an original unit they would swap for the twin?

Hi NordiSWUK,
I am restoring a 93 RC600, I also have a Nordi and Saturno, The RC has Nordwest style bodywork and a rectangular headlight, I bought a twin headlight nose cone (because I wanted the RC to look a little different to the Nordie)and codged up twin headlights which are proving a challenge to find a proper way to attach :( So if you're interested and prepared to wait until my next UK visit in April, I could be interested B) is SWUK s-west UK??
Regards
John

Maybe we should be more precise with the type RC.
There are at least 3 RCs out there.
First the 'old' RC with the metal fuel tank. The 'hardduro' RC/R
And yours (i suppose)
The RC/C(obra)
The last one is the base for the Nordwest, NordCape.
Bodywork ist the same. The RC/C has the doubble light nose. This was forbidden at that time in france. So they had a square head light. This was later used in the Nordie.
I think there are a lot (ok... some) Nordies out there with the Cobra fairing and the doubble light. At least i have seen some over the years.

ciao Joachim

Hello again and thanks for the rapid response!

The nose cone and lights appear to from the later RC as, in profile, they match the nordwest.

All the parts are in excellent condition so to Kano Nordi, yes, I would be interested in a swap or part exchange!!

I am located in the SW of the UK but travel regularly to London if that helps.

Thanks to all who responded - very impressed :)

Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt,
As Joachim explained so well my bike is the RC600 cobra which has exactly the same bodywork as my Nordwest apart from colour, the RC nose cone is white and in good condition with an RC logo on the front, as I explained I bought a double light nose cone but its lights are 2 separate units cobbled together and appear to have been attached onto the support frame with tank tape :( I have bonded the 2 lights together and am still scratching my coconut about getting the whole lot together in a decent way :S
When in the UK I base myself in the Northants area but regularly trundle down M4 - M5 coming to the west country.

Hi John,

The headlight unit I have is in dark blue but professionally sprayed. No logos or decals. The lights appear to be genuine Gilera units attached to the correct bracket however I haven't yet fully removed it to clarify.

Is your single headlight unit setup for UK or Europe? Not a worry as a bit of creatively placed tape will help it through any MOT :)

I will crack on with the disassembly of the Nordie and look forward to hopefully doing a deal with you in a few months! :)

Cheers, Matt
