...so once I finally get the kickstart fitted and working, my next plan is to fit a WP 43mm front fork to the Nordy (ex CCM 604/644).
Has anyone done anything similar? Just looking for tips before I start.
I'll have a single disc cast front wheel, triple tree, forks and spindle.
Apart from bearings and other sundries can I expect any major pitfalls I haven't considered?
Many thanks all........

Hi Moggivan,
If the WP forks will fit into the Nordie tripple clamps it should be pretty straightforward, I can't remember this size of the Paoli fotrks
If using the CCM triple clamps you will have to make the standard Gilera headstock bearings fit the CCM shaft or make/fit a new shaft to accept the std bearings ;)
I fitted Honda crf USD forks to my XR400 by machining the shaft to accept the original slightly smaller bearings B)
Good luck
John

Hi Moggivan,
As an addition, you will also have to adapt/make wheel spindles and spacers, plus decide if to use CCM calipers and disc mounted on a Nordie wheel, or easier fit the CCM wheel which will look out of place unless you have a spoke rear wheel to fit.
To maintain similar geometry, not nose up or down you need to look at fork length and offset of the front wheel spindle mountings before you jump in too deep B)
Regards
John

Well the wheel spindle just showed up for a CCM 604/644/R30, and the bearings are exactly the same size as the Nordy!! That's a result. So in theory I've possibly wasted £106 on the complete R30 cast wheel assembly... (Doh!) Whatever happens I'll be going single disc though and also keep the Grimeca as i believe it'll be better than the WP sliding caliper Brembo setup.
Thanks for the info fellas.

So why not staying with the Nordies front wheel and the doubble disc brake?
Maybe you will need some adaptors to make the calipers fit to the WP fork (just make 2 instead of 1)

;) Joachim

PS weight maybe a reason for using something else than the Nordies wheels

Hmm Nordie wheels are not the lightest
Another thought you may have to add a bracket to the frame for the lock stops if using the CCM triple clamps ;) I had to weld onto the front down tube of my XR
