another source for a coil should be a Saturno, RC or XRT coil.
They should all be the same.

No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationI've been doing a lot of ignition component testing on the Morini 350 hill climb bike later. To cut a long story short, I've found that pretty much any coil with about 4 ohms primary resistance will work with the North Leicester Motorcycles module I have on it. This is basically a CDI system as it requires no battery. I've run with 2 pin small 'scooter' coils and larger single pin, grounded to earth coils from Yamaha XV250s. In the end, a substitution test with the module from the other Morini with the same system proved the module itself was to blame (sparked on only one cylinder up to 3000 rpm).

The Morini system relies on the winding on the stator being up to spec (no battery required to run). I wonder if the Nordwest CDI (not inductive) system is similar and the 218 ohms from that is critical (cf. Morini I'd expect about 50v AC output at starter motor speed).

There are times when having two almost identical machines is very useful ;)

You might be able to find a 0.4 ohm coil that will work just as well as OEM but may require cunning to mount.
This might be worth a punt:

Thanks 72degrees, I did have a wonderful kangurou that I should never have sold ! that coil has 2 spade terminals, the CDI coil only has 1, so I find that a little confusing. but thanks for the info, back in the day with cars, a coil was a coil was a coil... either 12v or 9v with ballast resistor, this is all a little more strange to me.

No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationBeing 2 pin just means that 1 pin needs to be connected to earth via a cable and frame point, rather than relying on the mounting. Doesn't seem to bother the Morini so long as the coils are earthed one way or another.

What you could really do with as a substitute (non inductive) CDI box to test with but I suspect that good used ones are like rocking horse manure :(

What Nippon-Denso markings has yours got?
Uncle Bob Wright lists one for £75 - but I suspect that may be the inductive ignition version.
This one from Poland *might* be the pure CDI one?

baby steps and no real rush so.... I suspect the coil, as the rotor was wrong and is now correct, so the coil comes next in the hit list, ironically, my RC is identical, but you learn very little from part substitution and even the potential to end up with 2 bikes that dont spark .. hahaha I just got back from a blast on the RC, I love these machines :-)

No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationThere is a new coil at ebay.de for about 50Euro plus shipping.

Beside this there are 2 or 3 used ones at nearly the same price.
Search for 'Zuendspule Gilera 600'
But as Pete said, any other coil with the right resistance will do.
2 wires are no problem.
Maybe you have to build some kind of adaptor when the bores did not fit.
The Yamaha coils i have suggested look very much the same. But i am not shure about the XT500 coils. Mabe they are for 6 Volt ;)

If it turns out that the black box is the problem, i would suggest another solution.
I use an Ignitech ignition on my (inductive) Nordie since years. And i also have an CDI from them as a spare part for the Saturno.
Both programmable and cheaper than an used Gilera black box.
They came just for plug and play.
The guys there speak english and are very helpfull.
