Jocahim, I absolutely respect your wisdom and knowledge of our beloved Gileras

I have been a member for some time but do not contribute much.

But it an effort to add clarity and be of help, I had a similar problem a while ago.

The two Ignition/Electrics systems on the Rc/Nordies are totally dissimilar.

You can not mix and match the parts.

I am have lucky to have both in my garage and yes I have got the parts confused, NO SPARKS.

Nig I assume you have done all the good stuff?

All clean, well grounded, suitably tight. 0,6 gap between router and pick up.Clean connections. GOOD BATTERY.

As Joachim suggests new coil, (cheap on eBay), should eliminate that from the problem.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I have had my rc for 14 years, so I am pretty gilera minded, and whilst im a car mechanic, Im pretty bike savvy,so.... the nordy I purchased was a basket case and it has CDI electrics but had an inductive rotor, so my 1st job was to get all correct parts together on one machine, I have metered out the pick up, it seems ok, the cdi unit I cant check, but I am generating millivolts on cranking, all the basics are ok and the coil is suspect on one of the resistance checks, so this is my next place to go, watch this space all the best.

No probs.

You have to be a proper petrol head and a bit savy to have a Gilera, otherwise Yeah you will struggle.

I only ask where you are because I have the bits here which you could try, so as to eliminate them. Otherwise it gets expensive.

Thank you very much for the help .... I always own Italian machines, my other two are a guzzi and a laverda... and a saturno on the way, all good therapy ! haha ! well before I start stalking you, my major want is a denso 129700 - 2350 coil, I have found one on e bay.it, but closer to home would be a godsend. Please pm me if you can help, the joke on me is, I sold a beautiful RC for 800 quid last year and here I stand with a pile of rubbish I saved from being broken up for 725 quid, talking of needing therapy... but we have to save these lovely machines when we can thank you for your help.
