Hello all, new member, just bought a Nordwest 600. I live on the Isle of Man, so no problems here (yet??)with alcohol in our fuels.
I have not ridden the bike yet, as it had a punctured front tyre, so much to learn and fin out.
Simple things first. i assume the fuel tap has a reserve / off / normal position, but no markings I can see to tell me which is which. Advice please.
Chassis number. The service manual, which I have downloaded, gives the change over number for the ignition type.
My chassis number is 22810704nn, i.e., 10 digits. The manual gives an 8 digit number. Would I be correct in ignoring the "10" after the "228"?
Is there an INSTRUCTION book available?
No doubt much more to follow..
Thanks, Les.

Fuel tap info and chassis number info anybody?
Not has chance to delve into the bike so far, but one obvious fact is the complete lack of transfers!
Are they available, and what sort of price. If too expensive, this old pensioner will be saving his pension for other things.
Is there a decent quality exploded view spares listing available?
Thanks, les.

228 identifies the model so your frame number would be 10704.
Reserve is upwards and ON is downwards.

Bruno, thanks. No sticker or red mark on mine, but I suppose the arrow will be there when I look.
Engine number; Mine is 10 digits. I showed the last two as "nn" as I generally find it is not normal to show a full engine number. Prevents the fraudsters using your bike's identity when they "sell" one that does not exist That is why I thought the "10" may be a prefix.
It is the ignition system I am trying to find out about. The FACT SHEET says up to engine number 228*51763 it is capacitative discharge, after that number it is inductive discharge. My number makes no sense in that context.
No doubt once I start looking at the bike properly, I will be able to work it all out.
Thanks for reply. Les.

have a look at your electronic panel rh side
ONE black box is inductive
TWO black boxes is capacitive
the second box is the rev limiter which is included in the box of the iductive ignition.
If you have the generator case open you can also see
The capacitive has an extra charging coil for the ignition, so there are are different coils
On inductive ignitions all the coils are the same
Beside this there are other things whcih are different.

you've got paper works meanwhile?
If not ,have a look at the start page of this site ;)

ciao Joachim

PS you have changed the belt???
