No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationa few years ago my Nordie was running hot and i thought about problems with the thermostat, the water pump, the head gasket, the....
The so called big money problems.
A few days later i turned the key and the needle jumps up to the red area with the engine off and cold.
So i searched for a new sensor and found it.
The one for Piaggio NRG MC² 50, Gilera Runner SP did fit. Bought one for about 10Euro or so in the bay of fools.
I compared a working Nordie Sensor (which i found in my spare parts box) and the new Piaggio one. See the attached pic.
It's working fine since then.
You may have a look at this:

There is a list of other vehicles where the sensor is used.

Sorry for coming into this late but my 500 saturno does exactly the same thing. Temp gauge creeps up until it is just in the red but goes no further. Fan cycles on and off. Engine certainly does not feel as if its getting too hot. I've taken it to the track and did same thing as it does used modestly on the street. I replaced the temp sensor in the radiator which made no difference. I decided it was just the gauge of temp sensor in head and now don't really worry about it :)

I have noticed that the needle on my temp gauge does not return to the stop even when cold. It sits just about the blue sector of the scale.

Relax!

you may compare the resistance of your sensor with the values given above.
Or buy a new one ;)

ciao Joachim

Update
OK, replaced the sensor, still the same. Rode up the Bathgate hills, great roads, and really gave it some stick, it blew half the coolant out over the right side of the bike. Let it cool down and rode slowly home. Decided to remove the thermostat altogether, even though it seems to be woking fine. Filled and bled it, running slightly above halfway on the temp gauge now. Although the thermostat is working, I wonder if it was fully opening when the engine was running., or perhaps opening sometimes fully and not others, unlikely. Anyhow, it's running at what seems to be the correct temperature now
When I checked the temperature of the fan thermostat when it was running hot, it still wasn't very high, the fan wasn't coming on because it seems the thermostatic switch wasn't hot enough, flow on that side was normal or cool, the top hose side was too hot. The rad is clean and not blocked.
When the engine is running, temp gauge just above halfway, no fan, I switch the engine off, then ignition back on, and the fan comes on for 10 seconds or so.
I'll report back after a longer run.
Alan.
